The Biggest Obstacles I Overcame during my 75 Hard Challenge

How to overcome your own obstacles and become mentally tougher

One of the biggest challenges we face as individuals in life is overcoming obstacles and problems. Whether it's something as small as getting out of bed in the morning or as big as starting a new business or taking on a crazy ass challenge, we all have things that we need to overcome in order to become successful.

Completing the 75 Hard challenge was so eye opening or me in this regard. I learned so much about myself, my habits, and my abilities. I learned that I am so much mentally stronger than I ever thought possible. I learned that I have more willpower than I knew. I used the 75-day opportunity to push myself to grow as a human, as a business owner and as an active, aging female human. It was truly one of the best gifts I have ever given myself.

I was so impressed with my experience that I am now on a mission to share this journey with other women. I want to help other women experience the positive, joyous, rewarding experience that I did and to also help them create a version of themselves they truly love and admire. As Andy Frisella says “be brave enough to go after what you really want. Be strong enough to pick people up and bring them with you.”

It is possible.

And, we can do it together!

To help you with your own #75HeartandGrit journey, I have identified the biggest obstacles I experienced during my challenge and discussed how I overcame them.

It takes work. It requires effort. But it is possible.

Are you ready to change yourself, change your life and change your habits?

If so, keep reading!

This will help you with some of the biggest obstacles people face during their #75HeartandGrit challenge.

My biggest obstacles….

#1 - Time Management

Anyone who has ever tried to manage their time knows that it can be a difficult and frustrating endeavor. There never seems to be enough hours in the day to get things done, and the resulting stress can be both debilitating and overwhelming. However, time management is a critical skill for anyone who wants to be more productive and less stressed. Learning to manage your time more effectively can dramatically improve your life in a number of ways. For one, you'll be able to get more done and be more productive. This can lead to greater success at work, school, or in your personal projects. By learning to use time efficiently, we can achieve our goals with less effort and free up time for leisure, relaxation and best of all TRAVEL!

In addition, effective time management can help to reduce stress levels. By learning how to better plan and organize your time, you can minimize the likelihood of running into time crunches and feeling overwhelmed. As a result, you'll be able to approach each day with a more positive outlook and a greater sense of calm. If you're looking to improve your life, learning how to manage your time more effectively is a great place to start.

Time management is also a major component of the #75HeartandGrit challenge. Without good time management habits, this challenge is much more challenging… (ahaha)

Make it easy on yourself and practice efficient time management starting day 1.

The best way to get started is to begin by planning your days out. Plan each thing you’ll do that day and when you’re going to do it.

Here are a few tips on how I plan my days.

How I plan my day for #75HeartandGrit

  • I make a list of everything I need to accomplish each day

  • I schedule my day out with everything I need to get done

  • I schedule the #75HeartandGrit daily tasks into my day

  • I plan out my meals and snacks for each day and pack food when necessary

  • I get started as early as possible on my water and workouts

  • I don’t wait until bedtime to read

Here are a few good time management books that would be great reads if this is something you need to improve.

Deep Work by Cal Newport (I am reading this next!)

The 7 Habits of High Effective People (a classic everyone should read)

Eat the Frog (an all time favorite)

If you need help with this, I am happy to help you too! Schedule a consultation and let’s talk!

My next big obstacle… Putting outdoor workouts off “until later”

I spent several nights the first two weeks of my challenge walking super late at night by headlamp. I fell into the trap of “waiting for the weather to get better" (it usually doesn’t) or thinking “I have time later in the day” (I didn’t).

Time flies by and the day will be over before you know it.

“Run your day or your day runs you” my friends.

Plan your day the night before and stick to your schedule regardless of the weather or the time of day. Trust me, you will thank yourself endlessly for developing this habit early in the challenge.

My next biggest obstacle…

Injuries are an inevitable part of life. At some point, everyone will experience an injury, whether it's a paper cut or a broken bone. While injuries can be painful and inconvenient, it's important to remember that they are also an opportunity for healing and growth. The process of healing from an injury can be physical, mental, and emotional. It's important to get the appropriate care for your injuries, both from a medical professional if necessary and from yourself. Stay positive and believe in your ability to heal. Remember that injuries are not a sign of weakness but of strength. They are a reminder that you are alive and that you have the power to overcome anything.

Yes, injuries are a part of life but that doesn't mean that you must slow down. In fact, injuries can be viewed as feedback from your body. Instead of seeing injuries as a setback, use them as an opportunity to focus on the fundamentals and practice the basics. This is your chance to focus on healing and allow your body the time it needs to recover. Once you're feeling better, you can slowly start to increase your activity level again and get back to where you were before the injury. Don't let injuries hold you back. Use them as a chance to reflect and refocus so you can come back stronger than ever.

My last big obstacle…

Getting Bored

Getting bored is a big obstacle to overcome but it’s the easiest to overcome because its 100% under your control. Boredom can sometimes be a difficult thing to fight. However, boredom often happens when we allow ourselves to get lazy or too comfortable. If we put in the extra effort and try new things, we often can find ourselves having more fun than we thought possible! Try new recipes, invite friends to walk outside with you, go kayaking, walk your dog, take a dance class; these are all great ways to fight boredom and make new memories. You will be amazed at how supportive your friends/family will become when they get to be part of your journey. You might even inspire them!

Boredom only has as much power over us as we give it.

So don't be bored; be adventurous!

Try something new today.

The Conclusion

Mental toughness is one of the most important qualities that you can possess in life. It is your ticket to mental freedom. Mental toughness is what allows you to keep going when things get hard. It allows you to overcome obstacles. It enables you to achieve your goals. When you're mentally tough, you don't let outside forces dictate your life. You empower yourself to rise above your challenges and reach your absolute full potential.

Developing mental toughness…

  • If you want to be successful in life

  • If you want to create so much joy and peace in your life

  • If you want to persevere when times are tough.

  • If you want to accomplish things that you never thought possible not just with your health but also with your career, relationships, stress levels and so much more.

So don't let life's obstacles get in your way - empower yourself to overcome them.

In 75 days, you will be blown away by how much you can improve your life, yourself, your mindset.

Take it one day at a time.

One activity at a time.

Focus on getting the most out of each activity.

Fully experience every moment.

Find the joy in every movement.

Find happiness in every step of the process.

You are worth the effort.
