Location: 44°20'55.3"N 121°42'55.9"W, near Sisters, OR

Temperature Inside the Cave: 40*

This cave was beautiful! There were three skylights beaming through the lava casting a beautiful glow on the cave floor. The best time to go is in the morning before 10am because of the angle of the sun, you get the best beams of light then. The cave is open May - September and is free to explore.

Pro Tip: We had a hell of a time finding this cave. There were shrubs that were over grown on the way. Careful not to pinstripe your vehicle. There are also often downed trees, so be prepared and plan ahead.

How to find it:

Start on highway 20/126 Northwest of Sisters, Or.

Turn onto Geo McAllister Road. The road is directly across from the entrance to Camp Sherman.

After about 1/4 mile, turn right onto forest road 2061 (dirt road).

Go 6 miles on this road. You will reach a clearing and then a fork in the road.

Turn left at the fork onto road 1028.

After about 1/2 mile, turn left onto road 260 which becomes 2060.

Continue about 1 mile on this road.

There is a forest service sign on the right side of the road and a few spaces to park.

Walk up the path a few hundred feet and Skylight cave will be on your right.

There is a ladder to climb down into the cave.

The cave goes back about 900 feet one way so bring headlamps to explore!
